From the Amish word for a period of "running around." A time to go forth into the world, experience new things, and make mistakes. Mistakes like adding the letter "P" to the word "rumspringa." Apologies to the Amish for appropriating, and then fucking up, their religious terminology. I pray they are not offended when they see this on their fancy computers.
